Seriously, Sleeping Funny is a great book, with a wide range of beautiful written stories.
Two stories that continue to cling to me, months after reading them, are the haunting “Rise: A Requiem (with parts for voice and wing)” and the oh-so-insightful (brilliant characters!) "The Variance".
And, in 2011, Miranda won the Writers’ Trust / McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize for another story in this collection, “Petitions to Saint Chronic.”
Miranda Hill is also the founder and Executive Director of Project Bookmark Canada and will be back on this blog (soon, I hope!) to discuss that.
I'm so happy that Miranda, a friend from the University of B.C., is coming to Saskatchewan!
If you can make it to the Festival of Words, please say hi to her from me!!!
And yes, there are many amazing writers at this year's Festival, also including Melanie Schnell, Candace Savage, Angie Abdou, CJ Katz, Robert Currie, Shayna Stock...
